This week at LAN Party (the flagship show of Boss Rush Entertainment), we are celebrating our 100th episode! A little over two years ago, Nick Liggett, Austin Campbell, and Logan Corkins set off to talk about their lives and hopefully make people laugh. One hundred episodes later, we have made a lot of memories; but through everything we have experienced, our message has remained the same. LAN Party and BRE share a common foundation; be more and be better. It might seem that our content is just random chaos; to an extent that is true, but we want our content to be an escape. 

Each of us on BRE have struggled with mental health, and we know how there are moments when you just need to laugh. Depression is absolutely awful; there is no better way to say it. Depression brings you to lows that you never want anyone else to experience, and it’s in those lows that you need hope the most. I believe that podcasts can be a place where you can show a more human side of yourself, where you can admit to the struggles you have gone through, and you can inspire others to be better.

One of the reasons I personally wanted to get into podcasting was because of Greg Miller, a hero I admire. Greg is a co-founder of Kinda Funny, and I have been of fan of his since the Game Scoop and Podcast Beyond (BEYOND!!!) days. I’ve struggled with depression my entire life, and I was hospitalized for a suicide attempt seven years ago. When I was coming out “the woods,” I had a night where I didn’t think I could keep going, I had lost hope. In the hours of the night I was on Twitter looking for help when I came across this reddit thread.

It might sound stupid, but that reddit post gave me hope to keep pushing forward. Hope is the most underrated emotion humans can feel. If you are reading this, and you feel like you can’t keep going, that the world doesn’t need you, I want you to know that the world is a better place with you here. Each human being across this planet is unique, and everyone has something in them that makes them awesome. 

If you are struggling with mental health issues, please seek help. Tomorrow needs you! No one deserves to feel like they are not wanted and that they shouldn’t be alive, help is available and its there for a reason. Change doesn’t happen overnight, its a day by day process of trying to be better. You may feel like there is nothing to live for but you are absolutely wrong, everyone is capable of change, you just have to believe and put in the work to make change happen.

If you ever listen to LAN Party you often hear Austin and I talk about a band called Switchfoot. Switchfoot is a band from San Diego; and at every show they perform you will hear Jon Foreman, their lead singer, say “hope is the anthem of our soul.” Hope exists in this world, and even in the darkest moments you have to try and find it. I have found hope in music; I have found it in the adventures of Horizon Zero Dawn, and I feel it every time I witness some incredible moment in sports. BRE is a place where we hope we can make you laugh, we hope we can be an escape, but more importantly we hope we can be an inspiration to be more and to be better.
