Alan Wake Remastered Announced

1–2 minutes

Time to put some new batteries in that flashlight once again! Sam Lake, from Remedy Entertainment, has announced that Alan Wake is coming back with a remastered edition. He tweeted out that he wrote a letter to their fan site, The Sudden Stop. Alan Wake was the first publish exclusive title from Microsoft.

In the letter, Sam Lake speaks on why Alan Wake means a lot to him personally. He quotes “This story and character were personal in many ways. Alan Wake, being a writer himself, gave me an opportunity to use what I do and love as a writer as an element in the story.” As fans will know, the 5-year development of the original game had its up and downs. At one point, the game was taken down due to a licensing issue with the music in the game, but all of it was settled. Now that the game is back in Remedy’s control, the remaster is planned for Epic’s game store, Xbox, and PlayStation. At this time, no Nintendo Switch version has been announced, but with Control being on the console, there’s a possibility it could be announced in a Nintendo Direct or later.

Alan Wake Returns to Remedy, Paving the Way for a Sequel

Alan Wake was released on May 18, 2010 in North America for Xbox 360. It’s a psychological action-adventure that was designed like a TV series. You play as Alan Wake, a writer, who takes a vacation with his wife in the fictional town of Bright Falls, Washington. One night, Wake’s wife disappears, and players must unravel the mystery. There was also DLC called “American Nightmare” that came two years later, and there was a revisit to the game in Remedy’s other title Control, with their final DLC called “AWE” (Alan Wake Expansion).

No release date is set at this time, but it seems that the wait won’t be long. You can click here to read the letter from Sam Lake.
