Metroid Dread Demo Now Available on Switch eShop

Metroid Dread has already proven to be a mighty success for Nintendo during its first month of availability. For those who haven’t had the chance to dive into the latest space adventure starring Samus Aran however, a free demo can now be downloaded from the Switch eShop.

Nintendo made the announcement via Twitter Wednesday evening, along with a festive picture featuring a Samus inspired carved pumpkin.

Although Metroid Dread isn’t a horror game, tying it to Halloween does seem appropriate considering the moody atmosphere, the numerous tense chase sequences, and the sense of desperation that permeates the title.

The inclusion of a demo for this game also feels like a great move, as although it has been receiving stellar reviews across the internet, Metroid Dread admittedly isn’t for everyone. The game can have some truly brutal sections in terms of difficulty, and many gamers have expressed doubt that a 2D side-scrolling game is actually worth the $60 USD price tag. A short demo is perfect for those on the fence about diving into the full adventure.
