Bandai Namco has revealed an upcoming online survival co-op game titled Dragon Ball: The Breakers. The game appears very similar to other survival titles such as Friday the 13th: The Game and Dead By Daylight. You can view the trailer below.
Currently, the game is slated for a “2022” release on the PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC.
The developer is listed as Dimps Corporation, who have also worked on the Dragon Ball Xenoverse games, as well as Soul Calibur VI.
Video games based on the extremely popular Dragon Ball anime and manga are nothing new, but most consist of players duking it out as one of the mighty saiyan characters such as Goku or Vegeta.
In Breakers, seven gamers will assume the role of normal “survivors” (which include popular characters Bulma and Oolong) who are attempting to escape from the destruction caused by a “Raider” controlled by an eighth player. Raiders (such as villains Cell, Buu, and Frieza) have overwhelming power, and can obliterate anything in their path with ease.
Survivors must gather parts of the “Super Time Machine” that are scattered about the map if they hope to escape, but the raider player will only become stronger the longer the match goes on.
The publisher states that players can cooperate with their partners to escape as a team, or go it alone and hope to be the lone survivor.
Unique power-up items such as vehicles, grappling hooks, and destructive weapons are also available to aid survivors against the mighty raiders.
Additionally, players will be able to customize any of their characters–be it raider or survivor–by unlocking perks, skins, and more.
