When THQ Nordic announced it was rereleasing Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning as a remaster of the beloved Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 action RPG, fans were ecstatic that they also announced a large expansion for $19.99 (USD). The expansion, entitled Fatesworn, now has a release date, and fans will be excited to know that it’s incredibly soon. Fatesworn will release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC versions of the game on December 14, 2021.

Here is a description from an official THQ Nordic press release:

“This year on Decembe. After the Crystal War has been fought and Gadlow has been defeated, the people of Amalur were hoping for peace to return to their lands. And although peace has indeed come to Amalur, rumors of a new threat are starting to spread, rising in the far west, the icy lands of Mithros. None other than Telogrus, the God of Chaos himself has awoken and is gathering followers to throw the whole world into chaos.”

Fatesworn adds an entirely new storyline to the world of Amalur, a huge new land mass to explore, new Chaos Dungeons, new enemies, new weapons and armor sets to find, tons of new quests, and a whole lot more. It’s exciting that a game that is over ten years old at this point is getting an expansion, especially with everything that happened to the 38 Studios and its former founder and Major League Baseball Hall of Famer, Curt Schilling. The franchise showed so much promise and now it looks like THQ Nordic wants to capitalize on it’s potential and grow it into the franchise it deserved to be in the first place.

Kingdoms of Amalur Re-Reckoning is also available on Nintendo Switch, though it seems owners of that version will have to wait a little longer for news on Fatesworn coming to the platform.
