The lineup for PlayStation Plus’ March 2022 games has been officially announced via PlayStation Blog and there’s a bonus title in the lineup for this month! This month will see subscribers of PlayStation Plus putting all of their skills in survival, racing, and combat skills to the test with the newest crop of games that are 100% free to own and play.

ARK: Survival Evolved (PS4)
In ARK: Survival Evolved, players awaken on the shores of a mysterious island and must quickly adapt to everything its hostile environment throws at them. Harvest resources to craft items and build shelters, and use your newly crafted equipment to kill, tame, or breed leviathan dinosaurs and other creatures that roam the land. Beware, you’re not the only one stranded: team up with – or prey on – hundreds of other players.
Team Sonic Racing (PS4)
Our hedgehog speedster switches the sneakers for wheels in this thrilling, competitive style arcade racer. Face-off with friends in intense multiplayer racing, race together across stunning worlds and work together as a team by sharing power-ups and speed boosts. Pick one of the Sonic franchise’s iconic faces, who have been split across three distinct character types, then unlock game-changing vehicle customization options to suit your racing style.
Ghostrunner (PS5)
Wield a blade and perform amazing parkour feats to battle your way up a megastructure tower city in this intense, fast-paced first-person adventure. Slice your enemies with a monomolecular katana, dodge bullets with your superhuman reflexes, and employ a variety of specialized techniques to prevail. One-hit one-kill mechanics make combat fast and intense. Use your superior mobility (and frequent checkpoints!) to engage in a fearless, never-ending dance with death.
Ghost of Tsushima: Legends (PS5 | PS4)
Ghost of Tsushima’s standalone, cooperative multiplayer experience is inspired by Japanese folk tales and mythology. Choose from four unique classes—Samurai, Hunter, Ronin, or Assassin—and invite friends or use online matchmaking to fight side-by-side as legends in four exciting game modes. Pair up to progress through the Story missions, gather three other players to take on Survival, or go two versus two in the competitive Rivals.
Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, which first launched as a free co-op multiplayer mode for Sony’s Samurai-styled exclusive and would later become a standalone release in the following months, is listed as one of two bonus games this month for subscribers.
That’s right, there are TWO bonus games coming in March! Also joining the lineup on March 15, 2022, PlayStation 5 subscribers are also receiving GTA Online.
GTA Online (PS5)
Experience the world of Grand Theft Auto V in brand new ways when GTAV and GTA Online come to PlayStation 5 in March 2022—with additional bonuses now available for PlayStation Plus members. GTA Online is the standalone version of the extremely popular multiplayer mode from Grand Theft Auto V. You’ll have three months to claim the game and add it to your library. It needs to be pointed out that you will need a PS Plus subscription in order to take advantage of this offer, but you can’t play the mode without it anyway.

Ghost of Tsushima: Legends will be available to download starting Tuesday, March 1. Don’t forget that you still have until Monday, February 28 to add February’s PlayStation Plus titles to your library.
March 2022 PS+ Thoughts from LeRon and Jack…
LeRon Dawkins (Host, Cross Roads: The PlayStation Podcast)
Many gamers were pretty disappointed with February’s offerings on PlayStation Plus, which included Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep: A Wonderlands One-shot Adventure (a DLC pack from a game that people can already get for free with the purchase of the Borderlands: The Handsome Collection). Looking at this lineup, we do see another DLC add-on slipping into the mix, but the major difference here is that it’s an additional title alongside the normal three games we are used to getting every month. This actually can be seen as a supplemental add-on to the subscription service.
The games listed above (not including GTA Online) definitely look to be a significant step up from February’s lineup with the shining star, in my humble opinion, being Ghostrunner. ARK: Survival Evolved and Team Sonic Racing are not my personal cup of tea, but both games are solid entries to the library of free games that subscribers get monthly. The inclusion of another DLC add-on to the monthly lineup, be it a bonus game this time and not just a “filler” title, is a head-scratcher for sure, but this might be an indicator of things going forward with PlayStation Plus where paid DLC will start making its way to gamers’ libraries alongside full-fledged titles. My question is whether or not DLC add-ons and expansions are going to be a monthly bonus inclusion (leading to a fourth monthly freebie) or if Sony will just use the content for “placeholders” when there isn’t an actual third game to list.
There is the looming shadow that Sony is doing a rework of PlayStation Plus (and PlayStation Now) that could change the subscription service as a whole. No one knows what that could be for sure but all of this information drives us, the subscribers, to speculation about both services.

Many PlayStation+ subscribers shared their disappointment with the announced games for February, myself included. The games felt like filler and did not appeal to me, which will happen from month to month. However, the inclusion of a DLC pack, Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep: A Wonderlands One-shot Adventure, started to get me to question if Sony is starting to devalue the service. Could the rumors of Spartacus, a service like Game Pass, come true? Though we need to wait for that hopeful announcement, I am happy to say that the games announced for March will earn a trial of each game.
Ghostrunner looks to be a 3-D version of Cybershadow, a 2-D side scroller that paid homage to the NES Ninja Gaiden games. The first-person ninja combat and platforming look to be executed well, and I am looking forward to seeing how the PS5 version runs. ARK: Survival Evolved had my attention with the dinosaurs, but then I took a step back with the knowledge that this is an MMO. I do not have the time to fully invest in a game of that scope, but having two young sons will allow me to check out the dinosaurs and the world.
Team Sonic Racing doesn’t make me that excited, but my older son is very into Sonic. The excitement of the movie sequel and his love for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will lead to a day one download and trial.
The last bit is a bit of a disappointment for me, Ghost of Tsushima: Legends. My disappointment is that it is DLC and not a full game, but also because I own this already. This will happen from time to time and my wish is that players that are on the fence with the beautiful world and combat of Ghost of Tsushima. I recently completed this game’s main story and I hope that this inclusion will persuade more people to play this game. As for Grand Theft Auto: V Online, I will not be jumping back into that world. I did on PS3 and PS4, but do not plan to on my PS5.
March’s lineup is a better fit for my play style, and I will be looking to try these games once the first of March comes along next week. I would love to have an announcement of a service that competes with Game Pass, but months like this are a step in the right direction over February’s lineup.
