What’s New, Nintendo? (Week of 2/28)

Wow! What a week of news in the gaming world we had last week. Elden Ring dominated headlines and Twitter with their release on Friday 2/25, the Steam Deck phase one trickled out last week with mostly rave reviews, and Nintendo sat back a bit until Sunday, when a huge Pokemon Presents dropped and shocked the Nintendo community with their announcement of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. The timing of this announcement seems a little soon with Pokemon Legends Arceus only releasing a month ago, but there are rumors swirling around that you may be able to transfer Pokemon from PLA to ScVi so you can battle them competitively, but time will tell on that.
Also in non surprising Nintendo news, Nintendo has pulled Smash Bros from the upcoming EVO. Back in November, Nintendo partnered with Panda Global for future Smash tournaments, which seemed to be a reaction to Sony purchasing EVO. So, pulling out of EVO wasn’t a matter of if, it was a matter of when.
Lastly, Nintendo finally dropped Majora’s Mask on NSO+ last week. Unlike the Ocarina of Time release, players have said that the emulation and input lag seem much better. Now it’s time to speculate which game will be next, maybe F-Zero?
