Earlier today, publisher Team17 announced a release date of August 9 for their hotly anticipated action RPG Thymesia. Unlike many recent titles, the game will only be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows PC; thus, there will be no last generation ports available. The game is the first from developer OverBorder Studio.
Thymesia promises to deliver “grueling” battles akin to games like Dark Souls and Nioh, with “fast-paced combat and an intricate plague weapon system.” The synopsis reads that players will assume the role of “a mysterious character known by the code name ‘Corvus,'” and you will “[p]rey upon your enemies, wield the power of disease and find the truth in your own memories.”
Publisher’s Team17 have a rich history in video games. The British group is best known for the Worms franchise, as well as The Escapists, Yooka-Laylee, and Overcooked.
What do you think about this new “Souls-like” game? Does the higher paced combat appeal to you more than the more strategic pacing of the Souls games? Sound off in the comments below and on our official Discord server!
