With the Extra ($14.99 USD monthly, $99.99 USD yearly) and Premium ($17.99 USD monthly, $119.99 USD monthly/yearly) tier subscriptions coming, Sony continues to reaffirm that in any PlayStation Plus plan you choose, you’ll get the same benefits that are currently available today for PlayStation Plus members.

Players who have previously purchased the digital version of select games from the original PlayStation and PSP generation will not have to make a separate purchase or sign up to PlayStation Plus to play these titles on PS4 or PS5. When these titles are released for PS4 and PS5, players can head to PlayStation Store and download a version for the consoles at no extra cost if they already own the digital version of the title. Some of the titles will also be available for individual purchase.

The time-limited game trial benefit will enable you to try select games before you buy. After downloading a trial of the full game, you can play it for two hours (for most games). The playtime counter only counts while you are in the game and it is a great way to try games before you decide to buy. Any trophies and game save data from the trial period will carry forward to the full version if you purchase the game.

Sony also mentioned that the games available in the PlayStation Plus games catalog will continue to refresh and evolve over time so there is always something new for gamers to play.

Cloud streaming requires a minimum internet speed of 5Mbps (15Mbps for 1080p). Streaming may not be available for certain games. PC streaming: users must be 18 years or older.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Far Cry 3 Remaster, Far Cry 4, For Honor, The Crew 2, and Tom Clancy’s The Division are available to PlayStation Plus Extra members as part of Ubisoft+ Classics. Access to Ubisoft+ Classics games is a benefit for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members.

Sony has also explained that it will refresh its new PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium tiers on a monthly basis, adding in new PS5, PS4, PS3, PS1, and PSP games regularly. The normal PS Plus Essential offering’s update will still take place at the beginning of each month while the two more expensive tiers will be refreshed in the middle of the month. This way, if you subscribe to either PS Plus Extra or PS Plus Premium, the service is updated for you every two weeks giving subscribers the perk of bi-monthly updates.

It’s starting to get really exciting for PlayStation Plus as a whole. While gamers and subscribers alike are still feeling the sting behind Sony’s refusal to have true day-one first-party releases on the line (in contrast to Xbox Game Pass) there’s still a lot to be hopeful for. PlayStation Now seriously needed help and this might just be a remedy that Sony can actually pull off.

How do you feel about the news on the All-new PlayStation Plus? Does this initial lineup of games make you happy and/or hopeful? Is this a good move for Sony? We’d love to hear your thoughts!
