Sony revealed in March that their new PlayStation Plus subscription tiers, named Extra and Premium respectably, will include classic games from previous consoles. Now, it appears that many of these games will be available for purchase individually outside of the subscription service.
The PlayStation Store for Asian markets (excluding Japan) has been updated with three classic PSX titles: Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee, Worms World Party, and Worms Armageddon. A fourth game, Ridge Racer 2 for the PlayStation Portable, was listed briefly before being removed.
All of these titles include features not previously revealed, including up-rendering, rewinding, quick saving, and custom video filters.

If the games’ pricing is any indication, those in the Americas and Europe can expect to spend between $5-10 USD or EU; they are currently being listed between 20-40 Ringgit in Malaysia.
This is all ahead of Sony’s launch of the new PlayStation Plus tiered membership options, set to go live in Asia on May 24 local time, or sometime later today. Asian markets excluding Japan will be the first to experience the service, with Japan, the Americas, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand to gain it shortly thereafter.
The breakdown of Sony’s global rollout plan is listed below:
- Asia markets (excluding Japan) – May 23, 2022 (May 24, 2022 local time)
- Japan – June 1, 2022 (June 2, 2022 local time)
- Americas – June 13, 2022
- Europe, Australia, New Zealand – June 22, 2022 (June 23, 2022 local time)
Based on this knowledge, it is quite possible that we will see an influx of new classic titles arrive on the PlayStation Store in the very near future, many complete with these new features.
What do you think? Will this be standard, or are these titles an exception to the rule? What classic games are you most hoping to play on the new PlayStation Plus membership? Let us know in the comments below and on our Discord!
