Gotham Knight developer WB Montreal posted an extended gameplay trailer today featuring new co-op gameplay of Red Hood and Nightwing. Coinciding with this 13 minute trailer, they made a few other announcements.
For starters, in the biggest (and most welcoming) news it has been confirmed that Gotham Knights will only release on current generation consoles; PC, Playstation 5 and Xbox Series S/X. The developers noted on their website that this is to “provide players with the best possible gameplay experience.”
It was also rumored that Gotham Knights would feature 4-player co-op gameplay in a recent Playstation Store post, labeling it with a comment saying “supports up to 4 players online with PS Plus,” however this post has changed back to 2-player co-op, and confirmed by developer WB Montreal as well.
The gameplay trailer showcases Red Hood and Nightwing’s special combat abilities. Nightwing is more acrobatic and can dispatch clusters of enemies with his fast paced combat style and elemental escrima sticks, and Red Hood is a more slower, albeit powerful fighter using his pistols for long ranged attacks. We also get to see the Belfry, which is the hub base for our Knights. The Belfry is where you will access the Bat-computer and highlight points of interest around the city and pick up missions, as well as upgrade your gear, equipment, train your skills and combat abilities, and interact with your other Knights.
The game is still slated to come out October 25th, and it takes place in a universe separate from the Arkham titles, where Batman is seemingly dead and it is up to Nightwing, Red Hood, Robin and Batgirl to keep the peace in Gotham, and investigate the Court of Owls, a secret society that seemed to have control over Gotham from within for centuries.
