A Recent Post Reveals That Animal Crossing: New Horizons is Now Japan’s Best-Selling Game

According to a post from Game Data Library, a website that tracks sales, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has now become Japan’s bestselling game of all time. They posted a chart with the top 20 best-selling games reaching all the way back to the Famicom. This is a great testament of the power and popularity of the Nintendo Switch, which currently has 6 games out of the 20 listed on the system represented.

Considering that Animal Crossing: New Horizons came out in March of 2020 its pretty amazing to see this game reach the top. The sales numbers reached an astounding 10,450,000 units sold, just surpassing Pokemon Red, Green, and Blue, for Game Boy sitting at 10,230,000 which came out in 1996. These two games are the only games to reach the 8-digit milestone. Also, it is interesting that out of the 20 spots all of them are held by Nintendo games except for number 14, which is Monster Hunter Freedom 3, a Play Station Portable game.

Congratulations to Nintendo and the Animal Crossing team who created such a noteworthy experience to claim this momentous title.
