Kevin Conroy, one of the most identifiable voices to ever lend his talent as the persona of Batman/Bruce Wayne, has reportedly passed away at the age of 66, confirmed on Twitter by the Peter Mayhew Foundation.
Kevin Conroy started his career in theater and television, but grew to prolific status as the voice of Batman for the Batman: The Animated Series, which debuted in 1992. He has since served as the voice of Batman in the Injustice video games, the Arkham series of video games, and in animated films like Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, Batman: The Killing Joke, and more recently Justice League vs. The Fatal Five. He even made an appearance as Bruce Wayne in Batwoman, the episode titled Crisis On Infinite Earths: Part Two.
Diane Pershing, who voiced Poison Ivy in Batman: The Animated Series shared the news and tribute on her Facebook page:
Very sad news: our beloved voice of Batman, Kevin Conroy, died yesterday. He’s been ill for a while but he really put in a lot of time at the cons, to the joy of all of his fans. He will be sorely missed not just by the cast of the series but by his legion of fans all over the world. Below are pictures of Kevin with Loren Lester who plays Robin another with me and and Tara Strong who is in the later episodes of Batman cartoons. And then finally, one of Kevin and me in front of the huge audiences we used to get when we did our panels. RIP, friend.

The cause of death is yet unknown, but as Diane has mentioned, he had been ill for a while despite still attending cons and meeting fans. Respect and condolences to his family as they grieve his loss, alongside the millions of fans (myself included) who grew up with his voice in our living rooms, theaters and video games.
