Resurrected from the dead (quite literally), Dead Island 2 is shaping up to be a stellar sleeper hit for 2023. While suffering a slight delay in its release, it’s nonetheless shaping up to be quite a gorefest, one that fans of the series (and its’ offshoot Dying Light) come to expect alongside its dark humored nature.
We got a sneak peak on who your four playable characters are, and they look to be well equipped to tackle the zombie apocalypse rocking Los Angeles.
Dani is a retail associate/punk rock chick who loves breaking rules and hates talking to her family. She’s full of rage and anger, obviously, so some of her innate skills include Bloodlust, finishing your enemies in a brutal and gory fashion, and Thunderous, which involves shooting your enemies with lighting rounds.
One look at Ryan and you’d think he was a fire fighter, but no; he’s an exotic dancer. He loves his brother (aww) but hates exercising for fun. Who does that!? Anyway, his innate skills include Retaliation, which is almost like a parry against zombie attacks, and Seesaw, which looks like a powerful melee jump kick.
You’ll recognize Jacob from the cinematic reveal trailer, and as you can see he’s not one to be trifled with. He’s a stuntman by trade, moved to LA from London, loves Shakespeare and hates boredom. Frenzy, one of his innate abilities, showcases his expert knife skills against zombies, and Critical Gains, which can boost his combat abilities.
Last but not least we have the extremely competitive running athlete Amy, who loves winning and hates losing. Her innate abilities put her athleticism to the test with Relief Pitcher, which looks like a forceful throw ability, and Divide and Conquer, which can dismember her enemies quickly.
Dead Island 2 will release on April 28, 2023 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, and on PC via the Epic Games Store.
