Nintendo Switch has been doing extremely well even in its sixth year of existence. We have fairly been spoiled by the consistent content that Nintendo has been pumping out to its consumers. We have seen all sorts of different software strategies over many genres, and it has been for the most part successful. With Nintendo’s last direct we were treated with more goodies for the future, but the one that has me excited is the remake of Super Mario RPG: The Legend of the Seven Stars.
We have seen a few games already come out for the Switch such as The Legend of Zelda: Links Awakening that made a past game feel fresh and new, much like I hope the remake for Super Mario RPG: The Legend of the Seven Stars will be. This left me wondering, what games would be amazing from some of Nintendo’s past consoles to receive the remake treatment?
NES – Thinking of games that need a bit of polish and shine, I want to see a The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Adventure made to a higher visual standard and polished gameplay. I would love to see MercurySteam take a stab at it after the positive praise they received for Metroid Dread.
SNES – Could we get remakes of the Donkey Kong Country games? I would love to play these again with a fresh coat of paint and relive the amazing level design, boss fights, and music score for the 100th time.
N64 – After playing Mario Kart 8 I was reminded of another classic franchise for a track they had in the game. The Game I would like to see remade is the Excitebike 64 version, with new graphics and maybe additional tricks for the area. I know it would be exciting for sure.
Game Cube – Would love to replay Starfox Adventures in a higher quality resolution and boost the amazing soundtrack. With Microsoft and Nintendo getting along so well, maybe release it for the Switch first and later to the Xbox.
Game Boy Color – One of my most enjoyable games for Game boy color was Mario Golf. In my opinion this was one of the best games in the series due to the deep RPG element and story to the game. Would love to play this with updated graphics and gameplay.
Game Boy Advance – Having The Legend of Zelda: Links Awakening remake on Switch being such a success I believe The Legend of Zelda:The Minish cap would be a hardy contender for a remake done in potentially a similar fashion.
I know that there are so many great Nintendo titles that deserve similar treatment or even a sequel. What games did you want to see updated, if any? What ones have you enjoyed so far? Would you rather play the originals or have a new version of past games? Let us know your thoughts.
