Indie RPG Sea of Stars Joining PlayStation Plus at Launch

PlayStation Plus just landed a highly-anticipated indie title.

Sea of Stars, a retro-inspired role-playing game, will be available on the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog at launch. The game is slated to release Aug. 29 on all major consoles and PC.

The game is also joining Xbox Game Pass at launch, making it the first game to launch on both PS Plus and Game Pass.

Sea of Stars will be available for both PlayStation 4 and 5 owners who also subscribe to either the Extra or Premium tiers of PS Plus. Those without a subscription can still buy the game.

Along with the reveal, Sabotage Studio also confirmed a demo is now available on PlayStation 4 and 5. Developers say they tried to pick a section that won’t spoil the game.

This game is a prequel to Sabotage Studio’s 2018 Metroidvania The Messenger. Sea of Stars occupies the same world but incorporates turn-based RPG mechanics in its gameplay.

The RPG will include numerous original characters and their stories. It also includes numerous ways to explore and traverse the world.

The game’s story centers on Valere and Zale, both of whom are Children of the Solstice. The two must combine powers to defeat an evil alchemist called The Fleshmancer.

Reacting to the News

Sea of Stars has a lot of hype surrounding it and Sabotage Studio just ensured a whole lot more people will play its game. The studio really has faith in this title.

And why wouldn’t it? This game looks gorgeous and unique. There’s always been a nostalgic craving for turn-based RPGs as larger games, such as Final Fantasy, embrace more action-oriented gameplay.

I think this game will hit the spot for a lot of folks. Having the game on both Game Pass and PS Plus further adds to the hype and attention Sea of Stars is receiving.

Not bad for your second game.

As for me, I’m already sold on this game. Adding it to PS Plus ensures I’ll play it sooner. I’m sure that was Sabotage Studio’s goal all along.
