San Diego Comic-Con has come and gone, but it left us with plenty of great announcements.
This year’s event was unique because the writer and actor strikes loomed over the event with many major studios opting to skip the event altogether. Still, fans still got a good taste of what’s to come in both entertainment and gaming.
Which announcement from Comic-Con was your favorite?
I was particularly hyped for The Walking Dead. AMC showcased trailers centered on its many spinoffs, including announcements of show renewals.
It’s been a while since I’ve cared about The Walking Dead, largely because the show started to feel stale over its long run. It led to burn out and I stopped watching both The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead.
All that said, these announcements made me want to come back.
I’ve always believed the best way to extend a show is through spinoffs rather than a long run. The Walking Dead ran for 11 seasons while Fear the Walking Dead ran for eight. That’s a lot to follow.

Seeing the various spinoffs and side characters getting their time in the spotlight helps me to want to come back. Furthermore, these projects feature new writers and showrunners so, ideally, there will be an added layer of freshness.
The world of The Walking Dead can be rich and all these spinoffs provide a great way to explore. Seeing all that is coming makes me think it’s time to return.
The other announcement that excited was the trailer for the second season of Amazon Studio’s animated superhero show Invincible.
Full disclosure: I have never watched Invincible, but I think that’s going to change prior to the Nov. 3 premiere of the second season. This show looked really intriguing with a unique take on superheroes.
There was so much to be excited about after San Diego Comic-Con despite Marvel, DC, and others skipping the event. Star Trek, Pokémon anime, Harley Quinn, and many others all had their time to shine during the event. There were even updates on Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Star Wars Outlaws.
