Unlike the days of yesteryear, there are new Pokemon card expansions released every other month! After wrapping up the Sword and Shield series, The Pokemon Company has dropped four Scarlet and Violent expansions in North America since March 2023. One of the most highly anticipated expansions released 9/22/2023–Pokemon 151. As you can imagine, this is a huge nostalgia machine and likely will be one of the most popular expansion in many moons. Which cards within Pokemon 151 are you chasing after?
What is in Pokemon 151? As the name suggests, the set contains all of the 151 original Pokemon from the Kanto region. Therefore, this expansion is likely to trigger many Millennials in their 30s and 40s that grew up with Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, and the gang. The expansion also has the usual secret rares, and some already are worth big money including “Erika’s Invitation” and EX versions of Venosaur, Mew, and Charizard. These are some of my personal chase cards:
Charizard EX- Full Art
Who doesn’t love a Charizard card? This full art shows this mighty beast in all his firey glory, and I mean, look at that HP and attack power. There is a secret art of Charizard in this set too, but this one captures my attention more.

Dragonair- Full Art
I love Dragon-types, and this full art Dragonair is gorgeous and filled with mystery. Normally, its evolved form, Dragonite, gets all the glory, but there is something so captivating about this illustration.

Alakazam EX- Secret Art
Alakazam has been one of my favorite psychic type Pokemon. And fun fact, Kadabra (the form it has evolved from) has been missing from Pokemon card expansions since 2002 due to legal issues.

Blastoise EX- Secret Art
This is hands down one of the neatest illustrations of this water-type Pokemon. Squirtle was always my starter back in the Pokemon Red and Blue days, so naturally I’m attached to its evolved form. In addition to that, Blastoise EX has a hefty amount of HP, great defensive ability, and firepower.

Zapdos EX- Secret Rare
The original legendary Pokemon also showcases its fire and water counterparts within this secret rare illustration. In one card, you get a gorgeous view of Zapdos, Moltres, and Articuno.

Since this writing, I’ve gotten two of these so far! What are your chase cards for the Pokemon 151 set? Share your list and your pulls with us on our Boss Rush Facebook Group or our Boss Rush Discord.
