So, Then I Just Backed it: A Series on My Kickstarter Adventures (Part 8)

5–8 minutes

Wow, it has been two years now since I have started this Kickstarter series. Truly it has been a fun year for backing projects and once again I will be showing you what projects I have backed and give you some details on them. If you have missed my past articles, please feel free to check them out right here.

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6 | Part 7

Over the past year I have backed some interesting and fun projects, I interviewed two different individuals about the hard work they put into their products, and I established successful relationships with more people in the industry and Kickstarter scene. I still have many ambitions and goals for myself, such as taking part in a Kickstarter project myself, but I know the time will present itself when its right. The journey has been grand.

So, let us start with the numbers and where I sit today with the campaigns I have backed and how many have been successful and the projects I have backed since last time I wrote this article last year. I had backed a total of 50 projects total as of the last article I wrote on this subject; I have a count now of 80 projects however a few were unsuccessful which always is disappointing. So here is the latest list.

#51 – Ninty Fresh Magazine Issue 8. This Nintendo centric magazine focused on Star Fox this time around and celebrates almost 30 years of this franchise.

#52 – Sally. A life-sim game created by Lucid Tales, featuring a magical journey aboard a massive flying ship where crafting, cooking, and community come together.

#53 – Forbidden Nightmare. A survival horror experience game in development by Studio Changan. It is formulated around a classic style of survival horror as you navigate the back alleys of Tokyo.

#54 – Flynt Buckler Wakes the Sleepy Castle. In development by Sleepy Castle Studios, this RPG follows in the footsteps of Paper Mario and brings to life a colorful and cartoony world with fun and engaging combat.

#55 – Plan: Z. My friend Travis at AvDenn Games brings a base building, strategy card game set in a zombie apocalypse. Check out the interview I had with him on his Kickstarter Journey.

#56 – Paper Koi Lantern. A unique paper lantern DIY project involving Koi fish from Yuumei Art. Create bendable paper crafted koi in two styles with multiple colors to choose from and place an LED inside to light up the room.

#57 – LumenTale: Memories of Trey. Developed by Beehive Studiosand coming to all major platforms is a monster collecting RPG. Partake in big boss battles, unfolding the story line, and discover the hidden mysteries this game offers.

#58 – Sword of the Necromancer: Revenant. Another game in this series coming from Grimorio of Games. This time explore a 3-D world as you dungeon crawl and build your city in this action RPG. Resurrect your enemies to fight at your side.

#59 – Thriving City: Song. This steam game developed by IndieArk makes you Mayor of your own city. Help the town and its people settle in as you try and cultivate the land and expand your territory.

#60 – Elements. Wreckit Games is bringing this open-world Co-op RPG to all major platforms. Inspired by games such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Witcher 3, Pokemon, and Minecraft you take pieces from these games to make up a big world to explore.

#61 – Mika and the Witch’s Mountain. From Abraham Cozar comes a new game with a witch named Mika. As you learn to become a great witch you will deliver packages to the inhabitants across a beautiful island.

#62 – Encounters: Shattered Wastes. I was lucky to interview Ryan from Almanac Games (See here) as he showed me a new board game they are developing. I play tested this cooperative campaign to slay monsters with various spells and weaponsto fight the corruptedbeasts with a team of selected heroes.

#63 – Unpetrified. An exploration game coming from Dreamhunt Studios. You play as a Golem that explores a vibrant world filled with plants, animals, and mystery.

64 – Spiral: Benard’s Journey.  From Folklore Games comes an exploration and narratively driven game about an elderly gentleman who is suffering from cognitive degeneration.

#65 – Camper Van: Make it Home. A cozy game by Anabel Sanchez that lets you customize your camper van as you embark on journey both in life and personal discovery.

#66 – Nestheads. By Nestheads they state that this is a cute solution to the mental health crisis and is an open-world adventure game that all takes place inside your head.

#67 – Koa and the Five Pirates of Mara. Another game by Chibig, which is my fourth game I have backed from this company. You once again play as Koa as you explore islands with her friend Napopo.

#68 – Slothtopia. A life simulator about sloths from Matthew Schubert, where you can fish, farm, and build relationships, while you catch and train monsters.

#69 – Solarpunk.  From the studio Cyberwave comes Solarpunk a first-person crafting and survival game that you can go at it alone or with friends.

#70 – Devil’s Night. From Nathan Harvey this horror game has you visiting your grandfathers house, but you find yourself not alone as you explore the dwelling.

#71 – The Quiet Things. This game from Alyx Jones is a narrative journey based on real diary entries that explore mental health and childhood trauma.

#72 – A Tiny Sticker Tale. Ogre Pixel, who made an excellent indie game called Lonesome Village, brings a new cozy adventure called A Tiny Sticker Tale, where you can change the world using sticker power.

#73 – The Secrets of Hope. Josh Kifer brings us an immersive story that you will lose yourself in as we follow a man who is coming to terms with having terminal cancer.

#74 – We Stay Behind. Volker Ritzhaupt brings us a story of a town that has inhabitants that are refusing to leave even though a comet is on a collision course to destroy it.

#75 – Before I Wake. Being developed by Lunarr Studios has us diving deep into a dangerous and haunting void that keeps us searching the shadows for what might lurk within.

As you can see It has been an abundant year for amazing projects from a variety of talented artists and entrepreneurs. I am excited to see how all these Kickstarters will turn out. This is one of the highlights for me is seeing the journey of these artists from the outside and rooting for their success as they try and reach the finish line.

Thank you again for checking out my past year and please check out my previous adventures in my articles. Also, if you have a project or know someone who does, I would love to check it out and interview you as part of my series. Also, I really would like to take part in a Kickstarter myself so if you have any roles that you are looking to fill no matter how small I would like to be part of it. Thanks for your support and keep those projects coming friends!

Please enjoy other entries in my Kickstarter series. Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6 | Part 7
