October is just around the corner, so you might be in the mood to watch some Halloween films. Over the last few decades, Disney Channel has made some of the best original films we have seen.
Whether you want to get nostalgic with old faves or want to watch something fresh but not too scary, Disney has you covered with their collection of Halloween movies.
From enormous favorites like Hocus Pocus to modest and adorable Disney Channel originals like Twitches, there’s bound to be a movie here that fits your Halloween plans.
So, assemble your friends or family and prepare some popcorn. Here are the top 10 Disney Channel Original Movie (DCOM) Halloween-themed films you should watch through the month of October.
10) Mom’s Got a Date with the Vampire
When you’re grounded on the night you have tickets to the Headless Horseman concert or a Halloween date with your very handsome boyfriend, you’d do almost anything to get your mom out of the house so you could have some Halloween fun, right? Even if that means arranging a date for her with a vampire… Maybe you wouldn’t go that far, but when Adam and Chelsea Hansen inadvertently do, the outcome is Halloween DCOM gold.
9) Girl vs Monster
Skylar discovers the night before Halloween that she is a fifth generation monster hunter, and a monster named Demetria is out to get rid of her before she can carry on the family tradition. Skylar and her pals must come together to stop Demetria since Skylar has other plans for Halloween night, which include singing with her crush Ryan and his band.
8) Under Wraps (1997)
Under Wraps has been regarded as the first DCOM ever released, making its debut on October 25, 1997. The film depicts a group of pre-teens as they find a tomb containing a living mummy. They take the friendly mummy home, only to discover that he will vanish forever if they don’t return him to the now-missing sarcophagus before midnight.
7) Invisible Sister
Rowan Blanchard, who starred in Girl Meets World, plays Cleo, a scientific geek and outcast at her school who is frequently contrasted to her much more popular elder sister, Molly (Paris Leclerc). Molly accidentally becomes impacted by the new concoction after successfully turning a moth invisible with her new science experiment and must find a method to change herself back before she is stuck like that forever.
6) Now You See It
When Allyson Miller discovers magician Danny Sinclair, she feels he has what it takes to win the Mystic Max magic competition and become a famous, only Danny lacks the confidence required to win. Now You See It quickly transforms into the most outstanding G-rated psychological/magical thriller ever, as he sets out to uncover his confidence and the mysteries concealed in the founding magician’s home.
5) Twitches
You’ll enjoy Twitches if you enjoyed Sister, Sister, the hilarious classic ’90s sitcom about two twins who were split at birth and later reunited as adolescents since it is essentially the same thing… with magic. Twitches follows a pair of reunited twins who learn they are witches and must defend the magical realm where they were born and where their biological mother still resides.
4) Don’t Look Under The Bed
All the other Halloween DCOMs truly lacked one thing that Don’t Look Under The Bed does: it’s genuinely frightful. After viewing this Halloween movie, we had nightmares for months about Frances’ incredibly charming imaginary buddy Larry Houdini changing into a boogeyman in front of our eyes, in addition to dealing with more serious subjects like cancer. And it’s obvious that Disney shares our opinion of Don’t Look Under the Bed’s level of spookiness. Due to parental complaints that it was too dark for their children to watch, it is no longer broadcast on the Disney Channel, not even during the Halloween season.
3) Phantom of the MegaPlex
It appears like someone in a spooky black cloak is causing mayhem inside the neighborhood Cinemax. Either it’s the alleged “phantom,” the spirit of the person who was trapped inside the old movie theater when it was destroyed and who now haunts the new cinema, or it’s a staff member from the megaplex posing as him.
2) Hocus Pocus
Although Hocus Pocus was initially intended to be a DCOM, producers finally felt that a feature picture release in cinemas would be a better fit. The famous Halloween movie still seems like a DCOM to you, even though it no longer has that designation since it frequently airs on Disney Channel around Halloween. The story centers on three Salem, Massachusetts teenagers called Max, Dani, and Allison who unintentionally revive the Sanderson sisters, three witches who were murdered 300 years ago for using terrible magic. The witch sisters are now determined to carry out their reign of terror over Salem, and only Max, Dani, and Allison, with the aid of an immortal cat named Thackery Binx, have the power to put an end to it.
1)Halloweentown
There is no other candidate for the top position. Witches, spells, monsters, ghosts, family, and adolescent angst (yeah, Halloween can certainly be stressful, especially for Marnie Cromwell) are all combined into one film in Halloweentown. Every every year, you can rely on seeing this one movie on the Disney Channel. And that won’t ever change (at least not as long as Halloweentown fans are involved). Along with all of its successors, of course, it will become a Halloween classic.
