The Game Awards 2023 Nominations are Here, Alan Wake 2 and Baldur’s Gate 3 lead with 8 Nominations

The 2023 Game Awards have released its nominations, celebrating the year’s games, lead developers, and industry.

The horror-thriller Alan Wake 2 (from Remedy Entertainment) and the role-playing game Baldur’s Gate 3 (from Larian Studios), both sequels, are two of the biggest hits of the year. Both are leading the number of nominations, each with eight, including Game of the Year. The four other games that complete the list of nominees for Game of the Year are installments of iconic franchises: Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Capcom’s Resident Evil 4, Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

With 15 nominations across its portfolio, Nintendo is the publisher with the most Game Awards nominations in 2023. Sony Interactive Entertainment/PlayStation is second with 13, Epic Games is ninth, Xbox (including Bethesda and Blizzard) is tenth.

The nominations for the 2023 Game Awards include a total of 112 distinct games, people, teams, and events from various genres and platforms. A global jury including representatives from over 100 media sites and influencer sources chooses the nominees.

On Thursday, December 7, 2023, the 10th annual Game Awards event will be streamed live from the Peacock Theater (previously Microsoft Theater) in Los Angeles over more than 30 platforms, including Facebook, YouTube, Twitch, TikTok Live, and X (formerly Twitter). The event will include live music performances, celebrity appearances, premiere announcements, and trailers in addition to revealing the winners.

Online voting on thegameawards.com will allow fans to select the winners in every category through December 6 at 6 p.m. PT. Furthermore, supporters may cast their votes for the nominees for the Game Awards on the official Discord server for the second year running. They can also join a live viewing party on December 7 and react to the winners in real time.
