I don’t think it’s a secret that I’m a sports game fanatic.
Heck, nearly all my posts on Boss Rush revolve around them! It’s undoubtedly my favorite genre out there right now and always has been. Madden, 2K, EA Sports FC, you name it, I’ve played it. But in my eyes, one series has stood above the rest – and that’s MLB: The Show.
There’s just something about the virtual rendition of America’s Pastime that gets me so entranced while I play it. Maybe it’s simply that I get to hit homers and strike out players, or maybe it’s some wish fulfillment and getting to live out my baseball fantasies through my create-a-player, I can’t say for sure, but I can say I’m pumped for The Show 24!
The newest sequel is expected to be released in late March and is supposed to have a bunch of new changes. And since we are what seems like forever away in only January, I’m left on pins and needles thinking about what kind of updates are they going to make.
My main hope is the developers bring back the year-to-year file-saving option they used to have. It was so awesome, you could roll your franchises over from prior games and it felt rewarding when you got to keep building your dynasties with your favorite teams after all the hard work you put in.
Speaking of dynasties, I’m intrigued as to how they’ll build up Diamond Dynasty this go-around. I’d love it if they brought back player trading with the player cards because lord knows I’ll collect enough throughout the game that I could make into a nice trade package for another online player. But even if they don’t do that, wouldn’t it be really interesting to see them add some struggles to the game mode like putting in set contracts with your players or even adding in player regressions on their rating if you’re in a slump while using them?
Over the 24-year continuation, the developers at San Diego Studios have continued to keep the game exciting and I have no doubt they’ll keep that trend up again this year.
