Nintendo’s first Direct of 2024 was a partner showcase that aired 2/21/2024. While it didn’t come as a surprise to many, perhaps it disappointed others since previous Directs this time of year tend to hold massive first party announcements. What did you think of the Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase?
There were approximately 22 announcements in this Direct, including titles from Xbox studios: Grounded and Pentiment. Several were remakes or remasters such as Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection, Monster Hunter Stories, and Contra: Operation Galuga.
While there seemed to be something for everyone, there wasn’t any “major” titles that the standard Nintendo fan may expect. However, that doesn’t mean the Direct was a disappointment. In my opinion, it was fine. I picked out a few titles to keep my eye on like Arranger: A Role Puzzling Adventure and Fantasy Lifei: The Girl Who Steals Time, and of course, I reminded myself that the Switch successor is around the corner. Therefore, I don’t expect the types of games releasing in 2024 to be major blockbusters–and that’s okay.
