RollerCoaster Tycoon Celebrates 25 Years with New Merch, Collectibles, and More

RollerCoaster Tycoon is one of the most influential sims of the late 90s. Chris Sawyer set out to master building roller coasters and created a legendary franchise instead.

At the height of the amusement park craze and everyone traveling the world to find the next great coaster, RollerCoaster Tycoon allowed fans to build, manage, and live in their own coasters and create dream park from the comfort of their PC.

I often attribute RCT as the game that got me into PC gaming at all. I still have my original PC game box and manual. Yes, PC games also used to come on physical media.

In 2024, with multiple games and expansions ranging in difficulty, prices, depth, and platforms, the franchise celebrates its 25th anniversary with a plethora of announcements, including a new merch store on Atari.com with branded hats, water bottles, mouse pads, and jackets.

Fans can also grab a shadowbox of the original RollerCoaster Tycoon game art signed by Chris Sawyer himself. These are limited, so if you’re a super fan, I’d go grab one now!

Interview from PAX East 2024: David Lowey, Sr. Director of Sales and Marketing, Atari, on RollerCoaster Tycoon‘s 25th Anniversary

RollerCoaster Tycoon is one of the most influential sims of all time and the fact that it is still around in a significant way shows why the brand and the games are so important to so many of us. Here’s to 25 more years of thrills, excitement, and great amusement park fun.

RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic is available on PC/Steam, Mac, iOS, and Android. Other titles in the series are also available across multiple platforms.
