Amiibos are experiencing a comeback of sorts with a slow, but steady stream of reprints. Many people are jumping at the chance to complete their amiibo collection, and I am one of them. This time around, I struggle with whether I should keep them in box or open them. So, do you keep your amiibo sealed?
For a while, some amiibo have skyrocketed in value (and some still are). One such example is the Wolf Link amiibo; however, Nintendo recently reprinted a large number of amiibo, including that one. While I feel that re-prints won’t be worth as much as the original, I am hesitant opening them up.
There’s always this temptation, this “collector’s mentality”. If I keep my amiibo collection sealed moving forward, it’s going to pay off in the long run! On the other hand, all my original amiibo are opened because I actually used them as intended or just simply wanted to admire them up close.
It’s hard to determine if amiibo will continue to retain its value, especially with the ever-growing mystery behind the next Switch console. We don’t know if Nintendo will make amiibo front and center again or if this was just a cash grab during a relatively quiet year for new games.
Until I make a decision all my new amiibo remain sealed next to my older opened ones. How about you? Please share your thoughts with us on our Boss Rush Facebook Group or our Boss Rush Discord.
