Permafrost, a New Survival Game by SpaceRocket Games and Toplitz Productions

3–4 minutes

Developer SpaceRocket Games, in partnership with publisher Toplitz Productions, announces the upcoming launch of Permafrost, an immersive addition to the survival genre. Set in a desolate open-world urban landscape, Permafrost presents a chilling scenario where survival is an absolute necessity.

Following the catastrophic event known as “the shattering,” a moon phase phenomenon causing an apocalyptic freeze, the world is plunged into an eternal icy grip. This crisis pushes humanity to the brink of extinction, leading to the collapse of political and economic systems and the loss of billions to the relentless cold. In this frozen dystopia, players must navigate a harsh world where every breath is a struggle against the icy elements.

Survival in Permafrost hinges on adaptability. Players must endure bone-chilling temperatures that affect their abilities, track elusive prey, and repurpose salvaged machinery to create vital survival gear. Threats abound, from warring factions vying for dominance to the constant danger posed by natural predators. Players have the chance to prevent further extinction by constructing shelters and forging peace among the scattered remains of humanity.

Permafrost demands players to fend off adversaries using primitive weapons or firearms, whether against hostile foes or wildlife. The game requires strategic planning and quick reflexes in the unending struggle for survival.

Matthias Wuensche, CEO of Toplitz Productions, stated, “At Toplitz Productions, we are expanding our footprint in the survival genre with diverse titles like Medieval Dynasty, Sengoku Dynasty, and hardcore offerings like Serum. Partnering with the talented developers at SpaceRocket Games marks our next venture. We are excited to introduce Permafrost—a blend of modern post-apocalyptic themes, intricate resource management, and deep survival mechanics, promising players an engaging and dynamic gaming experience.”

Set to debut on Steam Early Access in 2025 on PC, Permafrost will provide both single-player and cooperative gameplay for up to four participants. The game will feature a variety of compelling elements:

Resource Management: Manage scarce resources meticulously, from wood for warmth to pre-Permafrost batteries.

Base Building and Crafting: Thrive in the icy expanse by constructing shelters, crops, and advancing technology using repurposed materials.

Preserve Life: Keep your abilities and health in check to avoid hypothermia and endure the harsh climate.

Dog Companion: Your loyal dog companion provides early warnings and assistance in carrying items.

Dynamic Decision Making: Navigate moral quandaries, choose between rebuilding society or seizing power, and influence the fate of humanity in the frozen wasteland.

Exploration and Discovery: Unveil the mysteries of the ‘shattering’ by exploring the frozen remnants of civilization.

Cold Zones:
Explore hazardous territories for additional resources and valuable loot.

Deadly Combat: Defend against threats using primitive weapons or firearms.

Multiplayer Co-op: Survive the brutal world alone or team up with friends to scavenge, craft, build, and endure in a harsh environment.
