Nintendo has announced via X, formerly known as Twitter, that the long awaited summer direct will debut on June 18 at 10:00amET/7:00amPT. The event is scheduled for roughly 40 minutes.
Nintendo has previously stated that while the Switch’s successor console is in development, there will be no mention of the new device during this presentation. Instead, Nintendo will reveal the console at some point within this fiscal year, which would be before March 31, 2025.
This will likely be the last big summer for Nintendo’s highly successful handheld/home console hybrid, and while many gamers can expect a couple of big announcements, there is a good chance that Nintendo will be saving a lot of their biggest titles for their next major console.
Undoubtedly the biggest known game to be in development for the Nintendo Switch is Metroid Prime 4, which has seen a troubled development that has lasted over 7 years. It remains to be seen if the game will make an appearance at this Nintendo Direct.
