Wuthering Waves is a recently released gacha game created by Kuro Games. From the beginning, the game advertised enhanced exploration and those in the closed betas confirmed this. Since the games release, players have found this to be true.
There are multiple ways to explore in the game. One such example is with time trials. Time trials are just as they are called, a timed challenge to be completed for rewards. One of these trials allows the player to transform into an echo to complete it. An echo is the residual of the creatures in Wuthering Waves. While the player is transformed into one of these echoes, the exploration changes. A player could become a bird like echo and fly, going through hoops, or become a type of fish and race. These shifting forms allows for different types of gameplay.
Similarly to above, echoes are another way to enjoy exploration outside of the time travels. There are some echoes that allow for the player to change into them for a period of time. Some of these echoes can act as transportation, such as Inferno Rider. Inferno Rider is an obtainable echo through its boss challenge and allows for players to transform into it. This transformation also summons its motorcycle, which players can ride for the duration of the skill. This allows for quick movement across the map.
Wall-running is another way to explore. While climbing, players can press the sprint button to switch to wall-run. While a wall-run consumes more stamina than a normal climb, it is significantly faster. There also tends to be plenty of places for a player to stand and recuperate their stamina while wall-running. If a player is already sprinting up to a wall, the character will just start to wall-run instead of switching to climbing. This allows for a smooth transition. In addition, while sprinting across the map, players will parkour over obstacles or wall-run depending on the size. While running up a wall, if there is an obstacle above the players head, the character can flip themselves up and over it. This does depend on the size of an obstacle, as anything too big cannot be flipped over.
There are also the grapple and ability to double jump to consider. The grapple allows for the player to lift themselves into the air, providing more height than a normal jump, and also can be used to traverse long distances when applicable. If the player dodges in the air, this also allows for a double jump. Using the grapple and the dodge together can allow players to get to higher up hard to reach places.
All together, the exploration in Wuthering Waves has created an ease that other gacha games don’t tend to have. It is not as common to get stuck in places or struggle to reach whatever it is that the player was trying to get to in the first place. This significantly increases the quality of life in game.
