A new patent filed September 6th, 2023, was published on June 20th, 2024, discusses calculations of various objects and what is outputted when they encounter each other. They use an example of an in-game character coming in contact with a circle. Once the interaction occurs you will hear and feel the object rolling that will change with the speed and intensity in-game, relative to location. The technology seems close to the haptic feedback like a PlayStation 5 controller.
We see the components and technology that may be in what seems to be the next Nintendo console controller. The left and right internal flow chart show slightly different offerings. Based on current issues with joy-cons we expect the issues to be addressed with improved quality.
From what the patent is telling us it seems that a lot of calculations will be happening in the background to process a more robust experience for the user by creating a deeper, richer experience. Roll and object and hear rolling, Slide and object and hear sliding. Seems like a straightforward audio output, but knowing Nintendo they will create something unique to showcase an experience through there software. Could the focus be building upon a better experience than the Nintendo Switch has to offer currently? I would hope so and this would be a great way to go about it.
As always in looking at patents they are not confirmation that these will be incorporated into a final product, but a way to make sure that if you have a great idea that they are cemented into reality and recognized legally to be used potentially in future products.
