Have you ever played a game with such meticulous detail that you wondered who would even think of something so niche? I had the same thoughts and broke down the games with the best detail. The importance of detail isn’t always necessary, however, when it is seen, noticed, and appreciated, it makes it all the more meaningful.
One of the most notable games for detail is The Last of Us: Part II. In this game, the amount of detail completely surpassed my expectations. The first game was packed with an amazing story and characters for it was made in 2013. Almost a decade later, gamers can recollect fond and solemn memories from the previous game in Part II. For example, gamers can return to the hospital where the final battle to save Ellie went down. This was a scene that left many viewers feeling accomplished and satisfied while instead when we revisit this scene, there is a deeper feeling. There are also incredible points of detail within the gameplay itself. When Ellie/Abby are being used as playable characters, each time they enter water, their clothes and hair remain wet for a considerable amount of time. It is the little details in this game that make playing it more enjoyable knowing the effort that took place to create such an amazing part of gaming history.
A great contender to this detailed battle is Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2. In this game, we are presented with various weather changes as well as personal growth and changes within the main character Arthur. If he is left untreated, he can become sicker with the NPCs making noticeable comments about his appearance. In the same fashion, players can also Arthur grow his beard. There are other minuscule details such as NPC backstories and the environment around The Gang.
In the video game world, Red Dead Redemption 2 and The Last of Us: Part II stand out for their astounding level of detail. For me, RDR2 takes the cake. The detail in this game is insane, from the weather changes to the hair strands. There are so many small details and Easter eggs that I would never have thought of, and they make the game so much more interesting. The developers truly cared about the product and art they released. It’s clear that a lot of effort went into creating both of these games, and it makes playing them more enjoyable.
