Publisher Daedalic Entertainment, together with developer Vixa Games, announced that their survival horror title, Edge of Insanity, will release on September 13, 2024.
Boss Rush Network had the chance to play the game at PAX East 2024; you can read our full review of the demo here.
The game will launch simultaneously on Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG.COM, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, and Nintendo Switch.
Set in the unforgiving lands of Alaska, Edge of Sanity is a Cthulhu-inspired, 2D survival horror game. The cosmic and disturbing story features Carter, the regular worker, who inevitably gets madness clawing his mind.
Left without choices, he leads a group of rescued survivors, exploring and scavenging, in a hopeless mission to survive together – against untold eldritch horrors.
In Edge of Sanity, players explore remote areas of Alaskan wilderness while seeking other survivors and scavenging for basic supplies. Preparations for both main and side expeditions will be crucial. With each new person alive found, the need for food, water, and the risk of disease increases.
Each dramatic event during the traverse across Alaska will leave a permanent scar on Carter’s mind. Accumulating madness results in acquiring traumas, affecting your character’s actions and sense of reality, opening new dialogue options, and even enabling the crafting of entirely new items.
To overcome unwanted meetings with various monstrosities, players need to learn the enemy’s weaknesses, impair their senses, manage resources, and make use of crafting abilities and surroundings for a chance to survive. When out of options, fighting using an axe might be unavoidable, but be prepared for a lethal outcome.
