The Edge of Allegoria from Button Factory Games and CobraTekku Games releases on December 4th for PC on Steam.
The 2D RPG is bursting with pixel art, GameBoy aesthetics, adult humor and plenty of self-deprecation. With a huge world, expansive dungeons and a sophisticated mastery system, The Edge of Allegoria will release for $19.99.
The Edge of Allegoria offers a classic role-playing world full of monsters and magic and, as a 2D single-player game, provides a familiar gaming experience with modern ideas and touches.
Allegoria is filled to the brim with monster battles and features 96 unique weapons, each offering unique combat skills. Players can equip their weapons over the course of several battles and with enough weapon experience, the skill and stats of the weapon are permanently retained by the player.
The Edge of Allegoria is the debut project of Canadian Joe Picknell, on which he has been working with much love and passion since 2021.
Picknell is an avid RPG fan, long-time pixel artist, video game composer and game developer who has combined his specialisms with The Edge of Allegoria to create a unique adventure with influences from the golden age of handheld gaming.
A whole generation of video game fans are familiar with the legendary handheld from the 80s. Picknell himself grew up with the aesthetic and knew straight away that he wanted this look for his debut work: an unusual nostalgic pixel artwork.
