Dwarves may be the most stubborn things alive, but Scibor Teleszynski’s new Kickstarter proves just how varied they may be. Teleszynski provides hand-sculpted, hand-cast resin miniatures depicting dwarves as pirates, robbers, military recruits, wild hunters, armored evil beings straight from an 1980s dark fantasy film, and as the shambling undead.
The campaign features an art book, as well as a number of early bird miniatures for supporters in the first 48 hours.
“Sculpting has fascinated me since childhood,” said Teleszynski. “As a small boy, I sculpted figurines from plasticine and modeling clay with which I played out battles and scenes from comics or movies. In the meantime, I finished my studies at the Academy of Fine Arts, started a family and…I continue to sculpt figurines that my imagination gives me.
“There is no denying that my favorite theme is dwarves and that that’s why the theme of the project is the dwarven characters and elements related to the dwarven world. I sculpt the figurines by hand, and they will be cast in grey resin by hand. Me and the people I work with at Scibor Monstrous Miniatures have been casting miniatures for 18 years. If you like traditional sculpture, traditional casts, and dwarves, please support this project.”
This model is cast in resin. Resin is excellent for capturing fine detail, and holds paint well, but has a potential downside. It is difficult to safely adapt (or kitbash) resin models beyond painting it as-is, as sawing a resin model creates fine dust, a carcinogenic hazard. I own and enjoy resin models, but it is worth mentioning so everyone can enjoy the hobby safely.
You can find Even More Dwarves on Kickstarter. The campaign will run until Tuesday, December 10. At time of writing, the campaign has over 400% backing.
