Introduction
Super Spy Raccoon is a stealthy platforming game in a retro arcade style.
Synopsis
Run, jump, hide, and sneak around the level as you collect classified documents and avoid enemies and traps.
Analysis
You’re not only a spy named Romeo, but you’re also a super spy. The objective is to avoid detection as you maneuver the level to collect all the classified documents. On what, who knows?

The gameplay
Super Spy Raccoon is an interesting platformer that takes arcade style aesthetics and merges them with a platforming stealth experience. You will try and perfect you’re timing and tactics as you avoid the hurdles that are in front of you.
The game has 5 levels each with another added element meant to hinder your collection of the secret documents. After completion of the 5 levels and a boss fight, the game will continue to loop until you perish and reach the death screen.
The enemies and traps are straightforward and once you time the patterns and come up with a plan it becomes quite interesting. When the game starts, they show a cut scene that usually showcases the new trap or mechanic that is introduced. You can avoid detection in a few ways, by hiding behind an object such as a bush or statue, standing still, or finding a cloaking device that gives you a limited time of becoming undetectable. If you take the cloaking device, it will cost you 100 points. Once all the documents are retrieved you move on to the next level.

Natural enemies such as monkeys and owls have repetitive movements, Monkeys run in a straight line back and forth and you must avoid detection or being touched. Owls pivot their heads back and forth and if you are in the line of sight you lose. Other mechanical enemies such as the motion detector moves vertically and so long as you are still when it passes it won’t force you to lose a life. The other big detection apparatus is the spotlight, and you must remain hidden or in stealth mode to avoid its gaze.
The last level upon completion you will take on an end boss and as mentioned before the cycle starts once again. As you play you will unlock various colors of suits for Romeo that just provide some subtle choice in style. Also available in the game are local and global score leaderboards to see how you compare to others. Pretty much a requirement in arcade style games.

Final Score
Super Spy Raccoon is an addictive stealth and action platformer that balances between time and speed as you figure out the best route to completion. The art combined with the music also works well with the game that builds tempo making you feel like you must ramp up your skills without getting caught.
One downfall for me was how short the game is. I’m fine with the looping of the levels after you finish the boss stage, but I do wish that you would see more or varying obstacles each time you go through a stage or at least speed up the enemies so that you need to time your actions and fine tune your skills even more as it progressively becomes harder.

I truly appreciate the time and talent that was put into this game. It is quite apparent that this is a quality over quantity situation. I would take quality over a bug-ridden laggy game any day. The game really delivers on that premise. If you are into stealth, speedruns or arcade classics, you should absolutely check out Super Spy Raccoon.
