Free League Publishing announced a new set of expansions for the roleplaying games building on J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings. Each covering elvish characters and realms, Realms of the Three Rings is an expansion for The One Ring, and Keepers of the Elven-rings is a supplement for The Lord of the Rings Roleplaying, a 5e adaptation of the game game. Both books are available for pre-order.

In the twilight of the Third Age, three realms of the West-elves still endure in Middle-earth. By the power of the Three Rings, they exist as a testament to a time that was. But not only the Elves remember. As Sauron gathers his strength to bring war to Middle-earth once again, he plans a devious vengeance against those who humbled him long ago.
The book includes detailed exploration of Lórien, Rivendell, and Lindon; players have the chance to meet their citizens, as well as the Elf-lords who guard these lands. Twelve sites of interest are included, spanning both locations from The Lord of the Rings as well as original setings.
The books come with an adventure detailing Sauron’s schemes against the elves, including new events, enemies, and potentially friendly characters for players to encounter.
A robust Appendix contains guidelines for creating and playing as High Elves of Rivendell and Elves of Lórien, as well as Elf-lords, powerful characters especially suited for solo play.
The book depicts elvish culture with clear inspiration from Greco-Roman dress and culture. Tolkien viewed his secondary world as embodying mythology in the first age, legend in the second, and the collapse into mundane history at the conclusion of The Lord of the Rings. This depiction of the elves draws lines to what we recognize as mythology, and implies their age-spanning nature.
