During the week of December 8, 2024, Fatshark will release the first part of a new Warhammer: Vermintide 2 campaign for free. “The Forsaken Temple” is the first installment of the Verminous Dreams campaign. During this time, Fatshark will also release the Mythical Masquerade cosmetic pack.
The Verminous Dreams campaign will be split across three new levels, much like the Karak Azgaraz remaster/remake and the series of adventures detailing Sienna’s sister’s sins and the near-breaking of the heroes’ bond. Like those adventures, “The Forsaken Temple” will release with a suite of new in-game challenges and achievements.
Devoted readers of Lohner’s Chronicles (spying on someone’s personal journal is very rude, by the way) would know that dear Franz was recently visited by an Elf of the Divine persuasion, who gave him a cryptic warning of things to come.
While he never spoke a word about this to our Heroes, his investigations nonetheless led him to uncover hints of Skaven presence in the ruins of what could be an ancient and even mythical Elven temple: Athel Lithri.
Whatever it is that the Pactsworn plan to do with that temple, it can’t be anything good. Time for our Heroes to take a peek and hopefully put a swift end to any verminous schemes going on there.
The Mythical Masquerade cosmetics will release alongside the new adventure. These costumes allow the characters to dress up as iconic characters from Warhammer Fantasy.
Bardin and Kruber will team up to dress up as Gotrek Gurnisson and Felix Jaeger, the beloved protagonists of the Gotrek and Felix novels, which were originally written by William King. These costumes are for Bardin’s Slayer career (naturally) and Kruber’s Mercenary career.
“Delving into mysticism,” Kerillian takes on the guise of Naieth the Prophetess. All Kerillian’s careers can wear this cosmetic set. Naieth is perhaps best known for not being in Total War: Warhammer, in any meaningful sense. She is the rare Wood Elf who has trained in divination, and studies cores drawn from trees to learn the flow of magic; she sets stones to guide this magic. Through her stones, she has cast a protective barrier around the home of the Wood Elves. Naieth first appeared in, and on the cover of, Nigel Stillman’s Wood Elves 4th edition army book.
Saltzpyre, “proving that he also can sport a magnificent beard,” dresses as Count Boris Todbringer, which is for Saltzpyre’s Bounty Hunter career. Todbringer originated in the 1980s, in publications revolving around the Power Behind the Throne campaign. Thanks to Yogscast, he has gone on to become a meme, explaining the inclusion of an otherwise minor character.
“With a sudden propensity for walking around with a cup of wine (at least, we think it’s wine!),” Sienna wears the regal attire of Isabella Von Carstein. She can wear these cosmetics as a Pyronmancer or Necromancer. Isabella loves, and is loved by, her darling Vlad (two of the few vampires, in any setting, who are happily married), with whom she controls Sylvania, at least when she is active in her unlife. She first appeared in Jervis Johnson and William King’s Undead 4th edition army book.
