Everything Showcased at the Sony State of Play, February 2025

Now that 2025 is in full swing and Microsoft held its first Xbox Showcase, it is Sony’s time in the limelight. On Wednesday, February 12th, we saw approximately 45 minutes of announcements, updates, and reveals. Here is a summary of what happened:

1) More Monster Hunter Wilds

Yes, the hype is very real with Capcom, and the first Sony State of Play opened with more Monster Hunter Wilds, which releases on February 28th. In this State of Play, Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto confirmed that they are adding Mizutsune as an additional monster for the first free update (with more to come). There are pre-order bonuses, including a digital art book.

2) Shinobi: Heart of Vengeance

We see the return of another beloved franchise from the creators of Streets of Rage 4. This SEGA 2D side scrolling game will drop 8/29/2025. Pre-orders are now available.

3) Sonic Racing Crossworlds

Watch out Mario Kart! Sonic is here in this racing title. You can sign up for the closed network test on 2/21/25.

4) Digimon Story: Time Stranger

We got a new Digimon game dropping this year for the PlayStation 5. See the trailer below:

5) Lost Soul Aside (Formerly China Hero Project)

Creator Yang Bing (a solo dev collaborating with PlayStation) spoke briefly about his game, Lost Soul Aside, formerly known as the China Hero Project. A new gameplay trailer and release date, 5/30/25, was confirmed.

6) Like a Dragon Announcements

A demo will be available for Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii Friday, February 2/14/2025. There is also another collaboration with Dave the Diver in Ichiban’s Holiday, coming this April!

7) Splitgate 2 Alpha News

On February 27th, the creators behind Splitgate 2 cordially invites you to join their open alpha.

8) WWE 2K25: The Island

Paul Heyman, WWE Hall of Famer, made an appearance to announce WWE 2K25: The Island, coming to PS5 and PS4 this March.

8) Borderlands 4 Gets a Release Date

As a follow up from the initial announcement from The Game Awards, Randy Varnell and Randy Pitchford from Gearbox made an appearance to present a trailer and release date of 9/23/25.

9) More Split Fiction

We see more of Split Fiction in this story trailer, which releases soon on 3/6/2025.

10) Directive 8020

A story trailer for this sci-fi horror title by is unveiled with a release date of 10/2/2025. Try and survive your mission while an alien that mimics its prey stalks you.

11) FNAF Fans Will Feast Well on a New Title

Shortly after the release of Five Nights at Freddy’s: Into the Pit, we are shown a new game for FNAF fans to feast on. Five Nights at Freddys: Secret of the Mimic brings on the scares on 6/13/2025.

12) More of The Midnight Walk

Check out this release date trailer for The Midnight Walk, a dark fantasy adventure game, coming 5/8/25.

13) Well, Hello Konami

We see a quick and wicked reveal trailer of a new game from Konami. This comes as a pleasant surprise in this adorable new action-adventure game. Darwin’s Paradox will release some time this year.

14) Warriors Franchise Continues to Diversify

We have a new spin on this Warriors game where action crosses with rogue-lites. Yes, you heard me correctly. Wait, there’s more–Warriors: Abyss shadow drops today!

15) More on the Onimusha Franchise

Capcom is on FIRE. Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny will be available 5/23/25, and we get to see even more Onimusha: Way of the Sword.

16) We FINALLY Get a Date for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater (Even Though a Leak Spoiled the Date Already)

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will finally drop 8/28/2025. Take a look at the trailer and let me know what you think…

17) More of Hell is Us

A release date trailer for this action-adventure title set in a war-torn country will come to players this September on the 4th. Are you able to confront the horrific side of human nature that results in the chaos we face today?

18) Lies of P: Overture

Lies of P returns in this prequel adventure! Play your way through the events leading up to the mainline game, uncovering secrets and other jaw-dropping backstory.

19) Dreams of Another

Dreams of Another is a game from the mind of Baiyon. He created this title with the theme of “No Creation without Destruction” in mind. In this interesting twist in shooters, you alter your surrounds instead of destroying with your weapon. This trippy adventure will release later this year.

20) Days Gone Remastered

Days Gone will get the remastered treatment and will be available on 4/25/25. The remaster will have additional content, permadeath mode, speedrun mode, enhanced photo mode, and more.

21) DLC for Stellar Blade is Closer than You Think

This June, you can revisit the world of Stellar Blade with DLC. Check out the trailer where Stellar Blade meets Nikke: Goddess of Victory.

22) PS Plus and PS Plus Classic Announcements

PS Plus additions on Premium and Extra for 2/18 include Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Top Spin 2K25, and Lost Records: Bloom & Rage– Tape 1.

Three Armored Core titles will be added to the Classics Catalog: Armored Core, Armored Core: Project Phantasma, and Armored Core: Master of Arena in the near future while Patapon 3 will be added next week.

23) Blue Prince

Looking for something different? Blue Prince takes you through an ever-shifting mansion where you get lost in its atmosphere while solving puzzles. This fresh experience launches this Spring.

24) Abiotic Factor

Find a multi-player experience with Abiotic Factor where you craft and survive with up to six friends. This twisted sci-fi game drops summer 2025.

25) Tides of Annihilation

New game alert! Inspired by Arthurian legend, play as a lone survivor on Earth who must travel between two worlds to have her revenge. Tides of Annihilation stuns us with its gorgeous graphics and adrenaline pumping action. Stay tuned for a release date.

26) Metal Eden

Need a new FPS to sink your teeth into? Look no further than Metal Eden. The State of Play presented its reveal trailer, and this dystopian thriller comes to players soon– on 5/6/25.

27) MindsEye

AI and human greed collide in MindsEye. This action-adventure title arrives this summer.

26) State of Play Concludes with a Fantastic Announcement by House Marque

In a stunning cinematic trailer, Saros by House Marque, was the final announcement. This is a new single player IP built on Returnal’s concept and features a hostile shape shifting planet plagued by ominous solar eclipses. It is projected to release in 2026.
