Developed by Mortis Ghost, and published by Fangamer, OFF sees the player assume control of the enigmatic Batter.
Take control of the Batter as he seeks to purify an uncanny and hopeless world haunted by specters, guided by a cryptic, grinning cat called The Judge.
As they move the Batter through increasingly confused zones, a farm that extracts metal from the inside of cattle, an amusement park full of people too frightened to enjoy themselves, and a sugar factory with ominous smokestacks, players must reckon with The Batter’s mission themselves.
(re)Play the definitive version of a beloved cult classic, reimagined for modern platforms!
Off is an RPG which follows in the footsteps of games like Mother, balancing irreverent humor with moments of a more serious and introspective nature, delivered in a stylish and sometimes bizarre way. Mortis Ghost himself describes OFF as a “Japanese-inspired RPG where you control a baseball batter chasing ghosts in a cubic, strange world.” He humorously hazards that OFF is a “cursed” game that “harbors a diabolical force”, and asks you “please, not to play it.”
In addition to a bevy of quality of life features in adapting OFF to modern platforms, the modern rerelease will include a reworked battle system, six new bosses, and a new soundtrack which includes contributions from Toby Fox himself.
OFF will be launching digitally on Nintendo Switch and Steam, on August 15th, for a price of $14.99 USD. There is also a physical “Bad Human” deluxe edition available for pre-order for Nintendo Switch, which is projected to arrive alongside standard physical editions in Q1 2026.
Additionally, OFF currently has a free, playable prologue on Steam, which will be available until July 31st. Any progress made in the prologue will carry over to the final product. The prologue can be downloaded from OFF’sSteam page, where you can also wishlist the game.
Will you be checking out OFF for the first time? Perhaps you are an old fan eager to replay it? In it for some more Toby Fox bangers? Let us know in the comments below!

Xbox is making some aggressive moves, and it feels like things are finally out in the open. Under Asha Sharma and Matt Booty, the team laid out a clear four-part plan for the future, covering hardware, games, player experience, and services. On this week’s Xbox Casuals, Corey Dirrig and Josh Finney discuss what it all means, from stabilizing the current console generation and teasing Project Helix, to growing franchises and rethinking how Xbox Game Pass works going forward. There’s even talk of potential acquisitions and changes to exclusivity. It’s a lot to take in, but more than anything, it finally feels like Xbox is being upfront about where it’s headed and has lit some fire under the community. Now it’s just a matter of seeing how it all plays out. This and more this week on Xbox Casuals.
