Hoyoverse recently released Genshin Impact‘s new region teaser video, titled “Song of the Welkin Moon Teaser: Moonlit Ballad of the Night“. The characters for Nod Krai and a hint to the storyline were featured in this video. Since the videos’ release, fans have been talking about the new characters, the storyline hints, and what this means for the future of the game. At the moment, this seems to be a good sign that Genshin Impact is heading in the direction that fans have been wishing for it to head once more. The release of Natlan caused popularity in the game to die down, but this video release has since revived some of the lost popularity.
This revival has, in part, to do with the characters that were revealed in the trailer. Since 1.0, Genshin Impact has hinted at Varka and Alice. Without a reveal of their appearance and minimal information about them, fans have been impatiently waiting for any news. There have been just enough details to make them interesting, with Varka finally being voiced in the 5.6 version update, but these hints have been few and far between. With the design reveal of two highly anticipated characters, as well as confirmation that they will be playable, many fans have returned to the game.

In addition to that, there are returning characters that fans are excited to see. The trailer revealed the return of Scaramouche, also known as Wanderer, and Albedo. Perhaps their presence is a hint at their importance in the Nod Krai Archon Quests. They weren’t the only characters that made a reappearance, as three other characters were featured in the trailer. These three were Durin, Columbina, and Sandrone. While they are not playable yet, they have been confirmed to be playable in future updates via Genshin Impact‘s social media posts.
Of course, fans are also excited about the new area. Genshin Impact revealed the Nod Krai overview, and within it had more details about this new area. One thing that got multiple fans excited is the reveal that Columbina will be the archon-adjacent character for Nod Krai. While the new region does not have an Archon like the other nations of Teyvat, it seems that they still have a deity they worship. The Statue of the Seven reveal for Nod Krai had Columbina as the figure; however, this is not a Statue of the Seven but rather an idol of the New Moon. At the moment, it seems that this idol will have the same function as the Statues of the Seven.

Genshin Impact‘s popularity suffered with the reveal of Natlan, mostly due to the character designs. However, it feels as if the game has returned to its roots. Once more, the designs feel like something that could be found in Genshin Impact and are steeped in the culture that the nation was based upon. Each character is unique, but there is a cohesiveness in their designs.
What do you think? Is Nod Krai going to bring Genshin Impact back to its former glory? Or is there no chance of that? Let us know in the comments below or join the Boss Rush Discord to further the conversation!
