It has been the summer of Donkey Kong Banaza. If you’re a Nintendo fans, and you were able to track down a Switch 2, chances are you’ve put hundreds of hours into this Game of the Year contender, bashing your way through terrain and shouting “Oh, banana!” at your television with each discovery. If you’re nearing the endgame content, then you’ve likely secured all of the various Bananza transformations that DK learns from the elders. So for today’s Boss Rush Banter, we wanted to know which one has been your favorite!
For me, the choice between Kong, Zebra, Ostrich, Elephant, and Snake is a tough one, as they all offer something that makes them uniquely thrilling. I think I’d have to evaluate them on two factors: utility and enjoyment. For utility, there’s nothing that tops the Elephant Bananza (though Ostrich comes close). Being able to use the suction power to rapidly clean up the terrain is so useful; the benefit of constantly unearthing treasure chests and Banandium Chips is a major perk. Add to that being able to store rocks, and you’ve got yourself one useful Bananza.
For enjoyment, I don’t think anything tops the Zebra Bananza. Though its utility is admittedly poor, I can’t help but enjoy myself as I tear across the landscape like a Greek god, jamming to that future Grammy winning track. I mean seriously, “Zebra Bananza Theme” has no business being that good. I can’t be the only one who thinks so, right?
