Today, HoYoverse announced that Genshin Impact will be discontinuing on PlayStation 4 (PS4). In HoYoverse’s opinion, the PS4 is not optimized for the hardware or application size needed by the game. The timeline of the discontinuation will be begin before or right as Nod Krai is released. This will only affects PS4; PlayStation 5 (PS5) will not be affected at all.
Starting September 10, 2025, at 6:00 (UTC+8), the game will be removed from the PlayStation Store. Accounts that do not have the game downloaded will no longer be able to search or download the game through the store. If the account has already downloaded Genshin Impact (even if it was deleted from the device), they are still able to access the app or re-download it.
The delisting of the app is the first step to the discontinuing. On February 25, 2026, at 6:00 (UTC+8), all in-game purchases will be taken out of the game. These purchases will be removed from both the PlayStation Store and in the in-game shop. Any purchases from the PlayStation Store that have not been claimed can still be obtained by logging into the game on PS4.
The game will finally no longer receive update support on April 8, 2026, at 6:00 (UTC+8). Any account holders will no longer be able to log into the game on PS4. The app will no longer receive any updates with the new patches. If there are any unclaimed purchases past April 8, travelers will have to log in and claim them on a PS5.
For travelers who only utilize PS4 to access the game and wish to save their account, binding their account is the first method to ensure the discontinuation has the least effect. Starting December 17, 2025 at 12:00 (UTC+8), an automatic binding prompt will appear periodically when opening the game. Furthermore, travelers can also access the binding account set up through the Paimon Menu by navigating to the Account Tab and to User Center. These will bind your account to an email making it accessible on a different platform.
Genshin Impact has a cross-save capability meaning that accounts can be used on different platforms. So long as the account in bound, travelers should be able to enjoy the game no matter the console. For more information about binding accounts and the specifics of what will be impacted by the discontinuation, HoYolab has released an official page of common questions and answers.
