Thursday, December 11, marked the annual celebration of video games and gaming culture via The Game Awards. While there’s been much debate and intrigue over which title will win the coveted Game of the Year award, there’s been far less suspense about which game will win the award for Best Family Game. In news that will surprise absolutely no one, the summer smash hit for the Nintendo Switch 2, Donkey Kong Bananza, took home the prize.
The game pushed the limits of what’s been traditionally possible in the 3-D platformer genre by creating completely destructible environments that encouraged player exploration and discovery. The game had a surprisingly good story and an absolutely incredible soundtrack. The game is exclusively available on the Nintendo Switch 2.
