Like so many, I recently finished Resident Evil Requiem and decided that I want to take a deep dive into the franchise. I asked a few of my friends which games I should play next and got a range of answers. Knowing that I’m a fan of the survival-horror elements, one friend suggested I check out Resident Evil Biohazard and Resident Evil Village. Other friends suggested I play the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 to get a deeper understanding of the tragedy at Raccoon City and Leon’s history.
I ended up going with the remake of Resident Evil 2, as I enjoyed my time in Raccoon City so much in Resident Evil Requiem. The destruction, environmental storytelling, and historical notes spread throughout the space made me hungry for more. As a lifelong Alien fan, I have a soft spot in my gaming heart for evil corporations, so I knew I couldn’t go wrong with more from the Umbrella Corporation. I’ve just finished my first playthrough with Claire and am starting the second with Leon—I love how faithfully Requiem preserved the police station—it’s actually made playing Resident Evil 2 in reverse order easier.
Did I make the right choice with what to play next? I’m dying to play Biohazard and Village, too.
