Boss Rush Banter: Xbox Game Pass Is Still the Best Deal in Gaming

1–2 minutes

I hate that Xbox raised prices on their Game Pass subscriptions, particularly the ridiculous percentage of price increase. I actually cancelled my membership altogether when the price increase was first announced. I still feel this way, but did recently renew my membership at a lower tier.

The main reason for this is that I love playing games with my fourteen-year-old, youngest child. We both love gaming. We have our separate games that we play individually, we watch gaming YouTube channels together, and most importantly, we have games that we like to play through together, especially Indie and Horror games. But we’re just too good together! (Okay, I’m only kind of joking—I’ve got a lot of gamer dad pride over my kid’s skills…) It’s just too expensive to churn out $40-$70 every time we beat a game together or when we work through our individual backlogs.

But I treasure our gaming time together, and Xbox Game Pass provides a massive library for a relatively low monthly price compared to what I’d spend on new games. The titles offered are a nice mix of old and new, Indie and AAA. We’ve especially enjoyed playing through the Resident Evil games together, and lately have moved on to some Indie gems like Firewatch and Blue Prince.

Xbox Game Pass is not perfect. And I still firmly believe Microsoft was incredibly greedy to raise prices as they have. But I can also recognize that despite some very legitimate issues, Game Pass remains among the best deals in gaming.

Tell us what you think! Are you a fan of Xbox Game Pass? Do you think it’s still a good deal despite the price hike? Share your reactions in the comments below or join the conversation on Boss Rush Network’s Discord, Facebook, and Twitter.
