The hit Korean action-adventure game Stellar Blade will be arriving on the Nintendo Switch 2 later this year, Nintendo announced during Tuesday’s Nintendo Direct.
Developed by Shift Up, the game initially released as a PS5 exclusive in April, 2024, and later arrived on PC in June, 2025. Stellar Blade originally was published via Sony, however Shift Up recently stated that they would be self publishing for future titles, which seems to include this new Nintendo Switch release.
Stellar Blade follows Eve, an elite soldier who is deployed to a post-apocalyptic Earth to defeat the monstrous creatures called Naytibas who have laid waste to the former human home world. The title features intense action gameplay akin to games such as Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, and Ninja Gaiden.
Winning numerous awards, including sweeping the Korean Game Awards with 7 accolades, the game hasn’t been without controversy, as the portrayal of Eve has frequently been argued as leaning too far into her sexual appeal, and thus contributing to sexism that has long been prevalent in the industry. Others counter that her attractiveness brings positive attention to the game, and that Eve is a strong protagonist regardless of her appearance.
Developer Shift Up recently revealed a sequel, Stellar Blade: Blood Rain during the Summer Games Fest, so fans of the series have a lot to look forward to in the near future.
