The second trailer for Resident Evil dropped some days ago, and I’ve had some time to let it marinate in my brain .I can say without a doubt that, personally, I’m beyond excited for Zach Cregger’s take on Resident Evil. It’s new and different, but most importantly, it holds onto the very essence of what a Resident Evil video game is about despite its fresh concept.
There are strong opinions over the fact that the characters we know and love in the games won’t be a part of this live action movie (and you can read more about that here or right here), but there was a time when we didn’t know Ethan Winters or Lady Dimitrescu, yet the seventh and eighth installments of the franchise were beyond creepy, horrifying, and perfectly fit to exist within the Resident Evil world, so it’d only be fair to give our new protagonist guy, Bryan, a chance, too.

The first trailer that released a couple months ago didn’t give us much. We were introduced to Bryan who will be forced to encounter some freaky entities and zombies during whatever journey he’s on. It was a teaser trailer that was judged unfairly based on how little information was given.
The second trailer was filled with easter eggs and things that only a fan would pick up on. You could claim that Cregger just did his research, but from both trailers alone, you can tell he’s not only a great director and writer, but he’ s also a big fan of the games like us. The typewriter, the first aid bag, the frantic search for ammo, and more were enough to decide that this movie will be worth it.
The second trailer went into more depth. We learn he’s got a job to deliver organs to a hospital within the infamous Raccoon City. Multiple shots during this trailer sold me instantly.
