At Saturday’s annual BlizzCon 2026, Blizzard announced that the next entry in the acclaimed Diablo franchise has officially entered development, with a planned release date of Spring 2029.
The studio released a short teaser that confirms that the titular demon Diablo will return to the Mortal Realm, approximately one century after the events of Diablo IV. The game is also stated to take place in a world completely beseeched by Hell’s army in the post-apocalypse.
In addition to the announcement of Diablo V, Blizzard unveiled other Diablo-based news, including that the Amazon class will be debuting in Diablo IV early next year, complete with her signature javelin and bow; a Switch 2 port of Diablo IV will be arriving on September 15; Season 15 of Diablo IV, titled “Hell’s Legacy,” will feature monsters from across the franchise’s history, and it will also be releasing on September 15; the comic hero Spawn will be a playable hero in the mobile game Diablo Immortal starting September 29; and finally, Netflix has partnered with Blizzard for an animated adaptation of the classic video game franchise.
