Today, Seismic Squirrel announced that their critically acclaimed game, Aether & Iron, will release on PlayStation 4 and 5 and Xbox Series S|X in 2027. This narrative decopunk RPG will have you making difficult choices and fighting in tactical car battles.
In Aether & Iron, you play as Gia, an infamous smuggler, who does whatever it takes to survive. Taking place in a fictional time of an alternate New York City in the 1930s, Gia ends up sucked into a world of corruption and political intrigue. With the discovery of Aether, you must help the city to rise and thrive or fall into destruction and despair. With a full voiced cast game and music by two-time Grammy winner, Christopher Tin and Grammy Nominated Alex Williamson, both known for their work in the Civilization series, Aether & Iron may continue its success on console.
You’ll explore distinct locations, recruit various people you encounter, build your own car for combat and smuggling operations, uncover secrets, and survive long enough to become a master smuggler.
Initially released on March 30the this year on Steam, Aether & Iron has reviewed positively and has been well received from players and streamers. It was a finalist at Gamescom Latam Big Festival 2026, winner of Best RPG at Many Games 2026, and nominated for Game of the Year at SXSW Game Festival 2026.
At this time, Switch and Switch 2, won’t be receiving a port of this game but only time will tell if this changes.
