Polish game developer CD Projekt Red has announced that their new IP dubbed “Project Hadar” has officially entered the development stage.
Previously, the game was in the concept, or “world vision” stage, in which the groundwork for the game was being fleshed out.
“This has been our biggest undertaking to date,” joint CEO Michal Nowakowski claims, “taking us several years, but at this point we can say we have a coherent vision for this world and its key elements.”
Little has been known about the project, which was first made public more than 3 years ago, but news has picked up in recent months as the developer has revealed plans to hire “up to 50 developers by the end of this year” to work specifically on the game.
A job posting from June called for an engineering director who would “push the envelope for the next, immersive game in the Hadar world, creating an emotional, open-world experience that will stay with gamers.”
The game doesn’t sound much different in size and scope as the studio’s other big properties The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077.
It should be noted that those properties are not originally from CD Projekt Red, but are based off a series of novels and a table-top RPG game, respectively.
We are still likely several years away from seeing even basic footage of Project Hadar, as the studio is currently busy with making both The Witcher 4 and a follow-up to the 2020 game Cyberpunk 2077.
