Microsoft announced via an XBOX Wire blog post that long awaited Mythic Achievements are in the works for gamers, and XBOX Insiders can currently test the feature and provide feedback before the official launch.
Mythic Achievements are the XBOX equivalent to PlayStation’s “Platinum Trophies,” and are special rewards given to players who gain all other available achievements in a given game.
“Whether you’ve spent years chasing every achievement, or are simply proud of the games you’ve finished, Mythic Achievements recognize some of the biggest accomplishments in your XBOX history,” the blog post reads.
Microsoft states that these achievements have already begun rolling out for eligible titles that players have completed in the past, dating all the way back to XBOX 360 games.
Achievements added later through DLC, multiplayer additions, or updates are not required for the Mythic Achievement, only those that were included at the time of release.
XBOX also wants to make it easy for players to reach their Mythic milestones. As such, a new progress bar will allow you to track difficult achievements, ensuring that you never miss one during your playthroughs. In addition, achievements that don’t count towards Mythic will be clearly marked, aiding players who don’t want to waste time on optional tasks.
Further changes are coming to XBOX profiles as well to make it easier for players to show off their accomplishments. Profiles will now include a “Gaming” tab, where all achievements, milestones, games played, and Mythic Achievements can be displayed.
There is not a set date for when these features will be available for all XBOX gamers, but XBOX Insiders can currently enjoy these and provide feedback.
